The 6th workshop of the Hellenic Institute of Nuclear Physics (HINP) took place as a special virtual event, co-organized by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the University of Ioannina on 14-16 May 2021.
The nuclear physics laboratories of these institutions and of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are founding members of HINP, which is a virtual institute with non-profitable character.
Details on HINP activities can be found at http://hinp.physics.uoi.gr/ One of the main goals of HINP is the collaboration among Hellenic nuclear physics laboratories with strong international links, promoting exchange of ideas among senior researchers, postdocs and graduate students. The HINP series of workshops, started in 2012, is devoted to this goal.
HINPw6 featured scientific talks by 25 invited speakers from several parts of the world, while in total 47 scientists reported their research on various topics of nuclear structure, advances in nuclear facilities, nuclear reactions with weakly bound nuclei, nuclear astrophysics, heavy ion reactions, rare isotope production, and applications. Emphasis in this symposium, including the opening talk, was given to links between fundamental research in nuclear physics and applications, mainly addressing medical issues.
