EPJ H Editor Allan Franklin receives 2016 Abraham Pais Prize for History of Physics

The Abraham Pais Prize for History of Physics is given annually to recognize outstanding scholarly achievements in the history of physics. Professor Allan Franklin, who is an Editor of EPJ H and author of the Springer book The Rise and Fall of the Fifth Force, receives the 2016 Abraham Pais Prize for History of Physics for "path-breaking historical analyses of the roles of experiment in physics and for explicating the nature of evidence and error in scientific argument".
Allan Franklin studied at Columbia University, received his PhD at Cornell University and was postdoc and instructor at Princeton University. He began his career as an experimental particle physicist and is now Professor of Physics emeritus at the University of Colorado working in the history and philosophy of science, with particular emphasis on the role of experiment in physics. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and has twice chaired the APS Forum on the History of Physics. In 2000 he was Miegunyah Distinguished Fellow at the University of Melbourne and he was twice a member of the Governing Board of the Philosophy of Science Association.
