We inquire into the nonclassical properties of the superposition of squeezed vacuum and that of squeezed coherent states of a math-type q-deformed harmonic oscillator. The quadrature squeezing, higher-order squeezing, number squeezing, and the q-deformed Husimi Q function are studied. The states are shown to have squeezing only for specific values of the deformation parameter q and the squeezing parameter r. We find that quadrature squeezing coefficient is independent of the parameter q in the q-deformed squeezed vacuum states, and the squeezing vanishes when we take superposition of deformed squeezed states. The Husimi Q function reveals that the states considered are nonclassical irrespective of their squeezing properties. Quadrature squeezing coefficient (except for q-deformed squeezed vacuum state), higher-order squeezing, number squeezing, and Husimi Q function vary for different values of q.
