The distorted-wave and convergent close-coupling approaches are applied to positron-impact direct ionization of Li, Na and K. We find reasonable agreement between different theoretical approaches at higher energies; however, some significant discrepancies are identified at low energies. Future experimental measurements are encouraged to check for accuracy of the presented theoretical predictions.
