Interpretation of tearing mode physics from ECE temperature fluctuations associated with magnetic islands and Mirnov signals

The experimental identification of the physical mechanisms behind the rotating magnetic helical modes with low numbers m,n which appear at magnetic surfaces where q = m/n is an elusive task. We discuss here a theoretical principle of a combined analysis of magnetic Mirnov signals and of electron cyclotron emission signals that can shed light on the underlying physics of these perturbations.
