Fringe shapes in a multiple-beam de Broglie-wave interferometer based on the atomic Kapitza-Dirac effect are studied. An all-optical implementation of such a device is proposed. A realization in the time-domain, using Bose-Einstein condensates released from a trap, seems viable within the present state of the art.
