EPJ D Topical Issue: Topological Ultracold Atoms and Photonic Systems

Submissions are invited for a Topical Issue of EPJD on Topological Ultracold Atoms and Photonic Systems.

Recently considerable progress has been made in studying the topological properties of ultracold atoms and photonic systems including the realization and studies of synthetic magnetic field and spin-orbit coupling. In addition to single body properties of topology, the interplay between topology and many body effects are being actively explored. The aim of this Topical issue is to highlight these and other related current activities in a collection of articles showcasing the state of the art and indicating directions of future research, as well as potential applications such as in the field of quantum simulation.

The Guest Editors welcome theoretical and experimental papers on all aspects of topology for ultracold atoms and molecules, trapped ions, photonic systems and circuits. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Synthetic gauge fields for continuous and lattice systems, synthetic dimensions, periodically driven (Floquet) systems and time crystals, non-Hermitian systems, dynamical gauge fields, many-body topological effects for interacting systems.

The issue is open to everyone working in the field. We invite contributors to communicate their intention to submit manuscripts for this Topical Issue to the Guest Editors as soon as possible. Please provide a tentative title of the paper. The full manuscripts should be submitted before the deadline directly to the EPJD Editorial Office at https://articlestatus.edpsciences.org/is/epjd/.

Deadline for submission: June 1, 2020

Submissions should be clearly identified as intended for the Topical Issue "Topological Ultracold Atoms and Photonic Systems". Papers will be published continuously and will appear (as soon as accepted) on the journal website. The electronic version of the Topical Issue will contain all accepted papers in the order of publication. All submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual high standards of the journal. More general information about EPJD including instructions for authors is available at http://epjd.epj.org/ .
